Swollen eyes, burst lips, broken teeth and a jail term all are familiar terms associated with Joey Barton. However, the man who served time in prison for beating the daylights out of a youngster in Liverpool a while back, has today spoke out against modern day footballers who are living the dream so to speak. Speaking, he said that most footballers are ‘knobs’ and think that their extreme wealth will continue forever. We all can admit that players are certainly over-paid and no one, more than Joey Barton & his £50,000 a week wages.

Speaking, he said :

‘Driving round in flash cars and changing them like you change your socks, wearing stupid diamond watches and spending money like it’s going out of fashion in the middle of a recession when some people are struggling to put food on the table for the kids - it’s not the way to do it.‘

You can certainly tick Joey Barton off on this list as he’s been the biggest waste of money for Newcastle in the last two years. Signing for £5.8m from Manchester City, by the infamous Sam Allardyce, it went from bad to worse regards Joey’s Newcastle United career.

Now Barton speaks out against modern footballers and we do think that he’s admitting to the same offenses as a footballer in the last two years.

He continued :

‘That’s the stuff people know about - there’s stuff I got away with.'

'I’m very fortunate because of my profile and the job I do, and the fact I’m in the public eye, it got addressed.'

'I was forced to address my issues - either carry on doing what you are doing and your career is gone, or you address it.‘

If you ask me, Joey Barton will be the same Joey Barton but it seems as if, 3rd time around(?) that he has bought some sense. To be honest, he shouldn’t be a footballer and earning the wages he does, he’s a perfect example of what young kids should not aspire to.

Saying that, it’s been a while since Joey’s been in the newspapers, his last article was probably about the bust-up between himself and Alan Shearer at Anfield that day.

Is Joey beginning to mature? I’m not so sure.
